PART-TIME ACADEMIC POSTING

POSTING DATE: June 24, 2016

POSITION: Sessional Lecturer: PHYC 1190 Intro to Physics (Fall Term 2016: Sept 1 to Dec 31 2016)
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Department of Physics and Atmospheric Science
PAY RATE: In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT:
The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class or partial class, including lectures, in-class demonstrations, test preparation, evaluation, and electronic submission of grades. Part-time academics are expected to be available for three hours per week for consultation with students, and to have students fill out the evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course. This part-time academic is expected to attend the previous section of the PHYC 1190 course offering, in order to ensure consistency and mirror teaching delivery in their assigned section. Part-time academics report to the Chairperson of the Department.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
Candidates must have an advanced degree in Physics (MSc or PhD), and must have critical thinking skills and relevant teaching experience. Excellent organizational and written communication skills are required.
