Position: Part-Time Academic – Winter 2017 – ANSC 0207 - Records Management &  Decision Making for Dairy Herds (.33%)

Department:  Department of Business & Social Sciences

Pay Rate:  In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement

Work Assignment:  This instructor will teach a four (4) week module in ANSC 0207 (.33%) Records Management & Decision Making for Dairy Herds, during January – April 2017.  The class is currently scheduled for Tuesday/Thursday, 10:05-11:25.  The instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the module, including lectures, test and exam preparation and evaluation.  The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Requirements:  Teaching experience at a University Level; at least a Degree in Business or equivalent Experience and Professional Qualifications; Knowledge and work experience in the dairy industry, demonstrated teaching effectiveness, and excellent interpersonal skills with students and the Faculty.

Position: Part-Time Academic – Fall 2016 – CMMT 0030 - English for Academic Purposes
Department:  Department of Business & Social Sciences

Pay Rate:  $14,643 to $17,907 (incl. 4% vacation pay) - Depending on teaching experience with Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture

Work Assignment:   This lecturer will teach CMMT 0030, English for Academic Purposes for the period of September – December 2016.  This course is currently scheduled for Monday, 17:35-20:25; Wednesday, 17:35-20:25; Thursday 12:35-14:235 and 17:35-20:25; Friday, 14:35-17:25.  The lecturer will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test and exam preparation and evaluation.  This course is designed to build international students’ capacity to speak, write and read English at a university level.  Students taking this class will have a TOEFL score of less than 6.5.  The intention is to provide a curriculum which allows students to achieve a TOEFL score of at least 6.5.  The position reports to the Chair of the Department. 

Requirements:  Teaching experience at a University Level; Experience teaching ESL with at least a Masters Degree in a relevant field, or Degree in a related field and equivalent Experience and Professional Qualifications; Certificate in ESL, demonstrated teaching effectiveness and excellent interpersonal skills with students and the Faculty.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:   Candidates should have completed MGTA 2001, or equivalent/similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level. Preference will be given to those with training and/or experience working in a paralegal role.  S/he should be familiar with the DBM and/or IFB/Agribusiness program curriculum. Previous experience as a TA and/or marker, especially in MGTA 2001 would be an asset.

Position: Part-Time Academic – Fall 2016 – SPNA 1000 - Basic Spanish I
Department:  Department of Business & Social Sciences

Pay Rate:  In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement

Work Assignment:   This instructor will teach SPNA 1000 - Basic Spanish I for the period of September – December 2016.  This course is currently scheduled for Monday/ Wednesday, 19:05-20:25.  The instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test and exam preparation and evaluation.  The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Requirements:  Teaching experience at a University Level; at least a Masters degree in Spanish, or equivalent experience and professional qualifications and possess native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English.  Must be able to demonstrate effectiveness in university teaching and possess excellent interpersonal skills with students and the Faculty.
