POSITION: 2-year 0.9 FTE Limited Term Instructor Position

The School of Physiotherapy, Faculty of Health Professions, invites applications for a 2-year 0.9 FTE limited term appointment at the Instructor rank, commencing July 1st 2016, in the MSc (Physiotherapy) entry to practice program.

The MSc (PT) program has a strong focus on laboratory and small group tutorial and clinical reasoning experiences. The Instructor position is a key component of the entry-level curriculum providing a common thread throughout the modular-based curriculum. The Instructor is a physiotherapist who is interested in having an impact on the education of future physiotherapists and who enjoys working with students. The School recognizes that the Instructor will have a specialty area of practice (neuroscience, musculoskeletal or cardiorespiratory) and will also have a general understanding of most aspects of physiotherapy practice. The Instructor works closely with the faculty members to create an efficient and effective learning environment for physiotherapy students. The desirable candidate for this position is an individual who is self-directed, has good organizational, communication (oral and written), strong computer literacy skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel! ), and interpersonal and time management skills, along with excellent clinical competency skills.

Responsibilities for the position include assisting with Course/ Module administration duties; preparing Course/Module syllabi; providing input into the design of the laboratory or tutorial experience; assisting/participating in Course/Module examinations, laboratories, school related activities; utilizing software and designated online resources for Course/Module preparation and administration; organizing and coordinating teaching assistants, laboratory demonstrators, and materials for laboratory or tutorial sessions; providing instruction in lectures, laboratory or tutorial sessions; organizing Course/Module Review; and participating in special projects as assigned.

The successful applicant will be a licensed, practicing physiotherapist; have experience as a clinician in one or more specialty area; have previous teaching experience (classroom, clinical, in-service and/or continuing education; have completed a Master's degree; and have a record of involvement in scholarly/professional activities.
