Research Assistant position (Part time, 34 weeks, total of 340 hours)

Project Start & End Dates: January 2016 to June 2016
Hours per Week: 10-15  hours per week

Hourly Pay Rate: $20 per hour, plus vacation pay

Research Project Description:

The project titled: Feasibility of having a volunteer/healthcare provider navigation partnership to support frail rural-dwelling older adults in Nova Scotia The goal for the project is to explore health system models for community-based palliative care services.  To accomplish this goal the research project will conduct a scoping review of international models, and work with key health and community partners to determine the feasibility of implementing these models.

This project is funded by Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation (NSHRF)

Duties & Responsibilities:

The research assistant will be assisting the principal investigator (Dr. Grace Warner) in conducting the following activities:

1.     Searching the research literature to identify relevant scholarly articles and synthesizing the evidence into reports and scholarly reviews;

2.     Searching the Internet to identify relevant policies that affect implementing these models health provider/volunteer partnerships

3.     Organizing a community café to share findings from the scoping reviews and a pilot study currently underway in British Columbia

Masters student in a health related field with excellent organizational skills. Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). Preference for someone who has an interest and understanding of issues related to palliative care.
