Guest Lecture: Teaching Academic English

Guest lecturer Randi Reppen (Northern Arizona University & Cambridge University Press) explores several levels of productive vocabulary of students in a university required freshman writing course. Examination of diverse vocabulary measures across different writing tasks from students of three first languages (L1) — Arabic, Chinese, English — paint a clearer picture of both the effect of writing tasks and first language influences.
