JOB SUMMARY: This is a blended class; lectures will be given both on-line, as well as in-class. The Part-Time Academic’s duties involve full responsibility for the class including but not limited to: lecture to students on-line, be available to students two hours per week outside of class times for student consultation, develop course outlines, prepare and grade assignments, tests and exams. The instructor is expected to create a blended course with recorded online lectures, and to travel to Truro once a week in the winter.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Ph.D. or ABD (Philosophy) and teaching and research experience are required to be considered for the job. The teaching and research experiences will be assessed with respect to their quality and to how closely they relate to the subject matter of the course. Evidence of teaching effectiveness and research experience is required. Research experience shall include at least one of the following: graduate classes taken in the subject matter of the course, graduate theses written in the subject matter of the course, publications or presentations on topics falling within the subject matter of the course.

The successful candidate must be able to teach on both the Halifax campus in the Dalhousie Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Truro campus in the Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture. The successful candidate should also have experience in class design and/or teaching and/or researching on issues in animal ethics as they arise in the agri-business. Experience with on-line delivery is an asset.
