Sara Allain, Kathryn Hayward, Catherine Gunn and Kim Sponagle from Dalhousie University are looking for Breast Cancer Patients Survivors or Family members who would be willing to be part of group discussions with Students in the Health Profession at Dalhousie University. Volunteers will be asked to help give the patient perspective in a case study provided to students on the care of a patient with Breast Cancer. There will be a small honorarium presented to the volunteers for their time and dedication to the event.
This event is taking place:
Dalhousie University, Forrest Building
Tuesday, October 20th from 3:30pm-5:30pm, The orientation will take place 2:30pm-3:30pm.
Thursday, October 22nd from 3:30pm-5:30pm, The orientation will take place 2:30pm-3:30pm.
• Volunteers would have a short orientation provided by Dalhousie, one hour or less, prior to the event and then participate in the discussions with student groups for up to two hours. Volunteers will be supported by faculty who will be present and who will lead the agenda for the day.
• Volunteers will be asked to aid groups of approximately 10 students from varying backgrounds, through a case, providing feedback on the emotional aspect of diagnosis, treatment, post treatment and navigating the health care system.
• The School is looking for 12 volunteers per session (Tuesday and Thursday) and it would be great if volunteers could commit for both days! However, if volunteers can only commit to one day, the event would be happy to have volunteers for one of the two days!!
