Elections Canada is operating special advance polls this week on campus. One poll is in the Student Union Building, and another is in the Atrium. These special polling stations enable citizens to cast a vote here on campus, no matter where they are registered to vote in Canada.
Under the supervision of Elections Canada staff, Dalhousie political science students are doing most of the heavy lifting at these polls. Political Science professor Louise Carbert coordinated with Elections Staff to have students enrolled in her POLI 3224 class “Political Parties in Canada” learn about elections administration by actually doing it. Students are also completing assignments about the electoral process based on their practical experience as elections officers.
