7th Annual Ransom A. Myers Lecture on Science and Society

You are cordially invited to attend the 7th Annual Ransom A. Myers Lecture on Science and Society on Friday October 1, 2015, at 7 pm in the Potter Auditorium of Dalhousie University’s Rowe Management Building, 6100 University Avenue.

The lecture “Beyond words: What animals think and feel” will be given by renowned marine biologist and author Dr. Carl Safina.

A reception and book signing will follow. Admission is free

ABOUT THIS EVENT: Dr. Safina the author of several prize-winning books such as ‘Song For The Blue Ocean’, The View From Lazy Point’ and most recently ‘Beyond Words: What Animals Think And Feel.’ He also hosts the PBS television series ‘Saving The Ocean With Carl Safina’, and has numerous awards for his work. His lecture will highlight novel insights from his latest book into the ‘private lives’ of animals, and how these might shape our understanding and appreciation of other species. The event will be followed by a reception and book signing.

Dr. Safina is a professor at Stony Brook University and the founder and director of the Safina Center, a non-profit society dedicated to marine science, conservation, and education (see: safinacenter.org)

The annual Ransom A. Myers Lecture on Science and Society has been organized by his family, colleagues and former students and is supported by the President’s Office at Dalhousie University.
