Job Postings: Four Part‑Time Academic Positions in School of Physiotherapy

WORK ASSIGNMENT #1: Laboratory Demonstrator: PHYT 5104 Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy and Health Promotion (September – December 2015)

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The laboratory demonstrator will assist the course professor by teaching acute care, physical assessment, documentation, and treatment practical skills and techniques in the laboratory component of this module for Year I MSc PT students. The laboratory demonstrator will act as an examiner in mid-term and final practical exams and evaluate the students' performance throughout the course and in these exams. Laboratory demonstrators will also set-up for and clean-up after labs. Some additional hours may be required for preparation time and limited meeting time with the professor.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Candidates must be licensed Physiotherapists, with strong clinical expertise in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy. A Master’s degree, with previous experience in both respiratory and cardiac practice areas, is a preference.

WORK ASSIGNMENT #2: Laboratory Demonstrator: PHYT 5460 Advanced Exercise Physiology (September – December 2015)

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The laboratory demonstrator will assist the course professor by teaching in the laboratory component of this module for Year I MSc PT students. The laboratory demonstrator will act as an examiner in the final practical exam. Laboratory demonstrators will also set-up for and clean-up after labs. Some additional hours may be required for preparation time and limited meeting time with the professor.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Candidates must be licensed physiotherapists or kinesiologists with a strong background in exercise physiology and exercise testing. A Master’s degree and teaching experience is preferred. Previous experience in exercise testing and prescription for individuals with chronic diseases and acute injuries is an asset.

WORK ASSIGNMENT #3: Instructor: PHYT 5460 Advanced Exercise Physiology (September – December 2015)

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The instructor will assist the course professor by teaching selected content, assigned by the course professor, in this module for Year I MSc PT students. The instructor will prepare and deliver lecture content, including PowerPoint presentations to be posted on the BbLearn course site, assist in grading the oral portion of the student term project, and prepare and mark exam questions related to that content. The successful applicant will need to be able to accommodate the course schedule for the required work. S/he will work closely with the course professor to accomplish the stated duties.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Candidates must have a Master’s degree with advanced training in exercise physiology. Previous teaching experience is preferred.

WORK ASSIGNMENT #4: Laboratory Demonstrator: PHYT 6107 Neurological Physiotherapy Practice (September – December 2015)

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The laboratory demonstrator will assist the course professor by teaching Year II MSc PT students practical skills, techniques, and intervention strategies for the appropriate management of patients with neurological dysfunction. The laboratory demonstrator will prepare the space; coordinate the equipment and the volunteers necessary to conduct the laboratories and/or practical examinations. The laboratory demonstrator will evaluate student performance during in-class practical assignments, during the mid-term and final practical exams and throughout the course. Some additional hours may be required for preparation time and limited meeting time with the professor.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Candidates must be licensed Physiotherapists with strong theoretical knowledge and a minimum of two years working experience in the practice area of clinical neurotherapeutics. A Master’s degree is preferred and previous teaching experience will be considered an asset.
