Equipment failure in cooling water supply may affect campus cooling

Posted by Facilities Management on July 8, 2015 in Facilities Management

One of the two large chillers in the Central Services Building that supply cooling water to some of the major buildings on campus has failed. Repairs to resolve the issue are in progress and are expected to be complete within a week. During this period, our ability to cool the affected buildings will be reduced by approximately by 40%. The following buildings will be affected by the chiller failure:

·         Central Services Building
·         Killam Library
·         Chemistry Building
·         LSC
·         Dalplex
·         Student Union Building
·         Tupper
·         Arts Centre
·         Weldon Law

To reduce the impact of this defective equipment, ventilation units in the affected buildings will be operated during the night to cool the buildings.

If you have serious concerns that this reduction is cooling capacity will adversely affect specific operations or research, please call or e-mail Darrell Boutilier (494-1067) Darrell.boutilier@dal.ca
