POSITION: Part-Time Academic, MSW Program

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: School of Social Work

PAY RATE: In accordance with the CUPE 3912 Collective Agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT: The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching
SLWK 7400.03 “Integrated Approaches for Social Work Practice” Section 01 on CAMPUS. The class will be offered in the Winter term, January to April 2016. For a full course description, please refer to the Dalhousie Graduate Calendar.

The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including preparing and delivering lectures and preparation and grading of assignments. In addition, the part-time academic should expect to be engaged in course preparations for one-two months preceding course delivery.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Educational background with extensive experience in social work (or related fields) is required. The successful incumbent must have strong skills in policy, theory, and practice integration, along with the ability to critically analyze concepts of power, oppression, politics, and citizenship. A Master of Social Work degree, or higher, and previous teaching experience is preferred. New and returning part-time academics must be available to attend mandatory orientation sessions and training for the new Learning Management System (LMS) - either in person or via videoconference.
