POSITION: Part-Time Academic for the Earth Sciences component of the Dalhousie Integrated Science Program (DISP), SCIE 1505 X/Y for the 2015-16 fall and winter terms. The course runs from September 10th, 2015 to April 6th, 2016.

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Department of Earth Sciences, Halifax Campus

PAY RATE: In accordance with CUPE Agreement Local 3912

WORK ASSIGNMENT: The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of the Dalhousie Integrated Science Program (DISP), a first-year class for B.Sc. students that integrates material, concepts, and skills across the sciences. The instructor will be responsible for the delivery of the Earth Sciences component of DISP in the fall and winter terms, including lectures, laboratories, and field trips. In the fall term this includes organising and attending field trips, including arranging transportation and preparing safety protocols, delivering associated lectures and labs, and preparing and grading related assessment material. In the winter term this includes preparing and delivering Earth Sciences lectures and labs and preparing and grading related assessment material. In addition, the instructor will supervise the TAs, grade student research projects in Earth Sciences, and attend regular meetings of DISP faculty. REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Graduate degree in Geology or Earth Sciences with relevant expertise and teaching experience.
