Dalhousie University recently experienced a rupture of its sea water lines that run from the Northwest Arm to the Steele Ocean Sciences Building (SOSB). Extra lines were in place, but both appear to be damaged. The area effected by the rupture is the grass area south west of the SOSB between Sherriff Hall and SOSB.
Before excavating and repairing the pipes, a bypass line will be installed from the Pump House at the end of South Street to the SOSB. This is occurring between June 2 and June 10 2015. Once the bypass line is installed and tested, the existing lines will be shut off, and the damaged pipes will be excavated and repaired.
The excavation is expected to start Wednesday June 10, 2015.
