Carleton to Sexton District Heating Project: Construction beginning May 19

Posted by Facilities Management on May 19, 2015 in Facilities Management

In order to create a cost efficient and reliable source of heating for Sexton Campus, Dalhousie is undertaking a project to replace the current steam based district heating system (DES) from Carleton to Sexton Campus. Work will commence May 19th to replace the steam line to a hot water based heating system, scheduled to be completed by fall 2015, in time for the 2015-16 heating season.

The Carleton to Sexton District Heating Project will provide heating to Sexton Campus by means of a district energy hot water line. This construction is necessary to ensure the university can supply a sustained source of energy in the most efficient and least costly manner to meet the demands of the growing campus.

Although this work will be temporarily disruptive to both the Carleton and Sexton campus, these much needed improvements will ultimately benefit the growing student population on Dalhousie's campuses. The Department of Facilities Management would like to apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.
