POSITIONS: Part-time Academics; 2 Laboratory Instructors for Principles of Animal Physiology Part I/Physiology of Marine Animals, Part I (Biology3078/Marine Biology 3074), September 1, through December 31, 2015

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Biology

PAY RATE: $4,565.50 to $5,583.00

WORK ASSIGNMENT: In consultation with the class coordinator, the sessional laboratory instructors will be responsible for the development and teaching of the laboratory component of the course; coordinate class TA’s and technicians; general administration (handling student issues, supervising TA’s, submitting grades, invigilating exam and tests, etc.). The positions report to the Chair of the Department.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITIONS: The applicants will have an advanced degree in biology. Previous, recent teaching experience (classroom and or laboratory) in animal physiology would be a definite asset. First time applicants must provide the names of two referees.

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Biology

PAY RATE: $4,565.50 to $5,583

WORK ASSIGNMENT: The instructor is responsible for the class lectures and evaluation of students. The instructor is responsible for the class lectures and evaluation of students. The class covers population growth, competition, predation, food webs, metapopulation dynamics, biodiversity and ecosystem functions. The instructor will consult with the laboratory instructor in the delivery of the course content. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: The applicants will have an advanced degree in biology and have prior, recent teaching experience in the field of ecology and demonstrated ability to lecture to over 100 undergraduate students. First-time applicants to the Department of Biology must provide the names of two references.
