WORK ASSIGNMENT
To teach English 1100.03 section 02, Writing for University, in the Fall term of the 2015-2016 academic year, currently scheduled for Tuesday/Thursday 8:35-9:55. The class will meet as a whole on Tuesday mornings with tutorials scheduled for Thursdays at 8:35-9:55 and 11:35-12:55. This section of ENGL 1100, restricted to students registered in the Dalhousie Kinesiology program, is expected to have an enrollment of approximately 180 students. The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching the class as a whole on Tuesdays and lead a tutorial section on Thursdays. The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, supervision of up to eight teaching assistants, test preparation and evaluation. The part-time academic should also be available for two hours per week for consultation with students. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in English or be in the final stages of a Ph.D. program. Previous experience teaching writing and composition at the university level and familiarity with writing for the Health Professions is required.

For each part-time academic the Chair will conduct an annual assessment of teaching performance, based on student ratings of instruction and may also include classroom observation, conducted either by the Chair or a representative from the Centre for Learning and Teaching with reasonable advance notice.
