The University of King’s College invites applications for Residence Donships for the 2015-16 academic year.
 
Dons exercise general disciplinary duties within the precincts of the College, especially within their designated Bay or Floor.  They are expected to make a significant contribution to the intellectual life of the College and to assist students through programming initiatives, individual support and referrals, and through initial crisis response. Together the nine dons and two junior dons form the core of the residence staff team, working together with the Dean of Students on a daily basis to coordinate their efforts as a team and as individuals. Dons are also required to attend bi-weekly staff meetings.
 
Applicants should have an undergraduate degree of at least one year’s standing and interest in being members of a small, dynamic university community. Former students of the College are expected to have at least one year between graduation and taking up the position.
 
Remuneration is a furnished two room suite (with private bath), a meal plan, and full access to all College amenities (a taxable benefit).
 
Dons are expected to be fully moved in to their accommodations no later than August 27, 2015.
 
Dons must be available and on campus during specific dates throughout the year.  These include:
·       August 28 to September 5, 2015: Mandatory residence staff training.
·       September 6 to 11, 2015: Orientation Week for new students.
·       December 22, 2015: Dons may leave for the holiday break.
·       January 2, 2016: Dons must return to campus for the Winter term.
·       April 25, 2016: Dons may leave residence.
·       May 31, 2016: Don appointment officially ends.
 
This is a one year appointment with the potential for annual re-appointment for a further two years.

The University of King’s College invites applications for Junior Dons for the 2015-16 academic year.
 
The Junior Don exercises general disciplinary duties within the precincts of the College, and is a resident supervisor of the first floor of Alexandra Hall or Angels’ Roost. The junior don is expected to assist students through programming initiatives, individual support and referrals, and initial crisis response. The junior don works closely with a team of nine dons and one other junior don who together form the core of the residence staff team. They work together on a daily basis to coordinate their efforts as a team and as individuals. Junior dons are also required to attend bi-weekly staff meetings.
 
Applicants should be senior undergraduate students at King’s finishing their third year of study or higher. Current King’s graduands are also encouraged to apply.
 
Remuneration is a single residence room and a meal plan (a taxable benefit).
