Register for the 2015 Dalhousie Employee Bus Pass (EPASS)

Posted by Office of Sustainability on November 20, 2014 in General Announcements

Dalhousie has partnered with HALIFAX SmartTrip to launch a reduced-cost HALIFAX Transit employee bus pass program available to all permanent full-time and part-time employees, as well as associate employees who are paid directly from Dalhousie Payroll.

The program was piloted in 2013 and was renewed in 2014, and for 2015.

A primary goal of the SmartTrip EPass program is to reduce rush hour traffic in HALIFAX by encouraging employees to use transit whenever possible. The program complements the SmartTrip initiatives to reduce the number of vehicles being driven to the workplace. Other SmartTrip and transit initiatives on campus include: Rideshare, Guaranteed Ride Home, and the Campus Bike Centre.

This December, The Office of Sustainability will be registering returning and new participants to the 2015 epass program.

New Sign-ups:
To register, join us in the Dalhousie Student Union Council Chambers (2nd floor) in the Student Union Building (6136 University Avenue) on one of the following dates:
•    December 3, 8:00am - 3:00pm
•    December 4, 10:00am - 5:00pm

Before signing-up, please read the pass details, rates, and program eligibility information found on the Office of Sustainability website. We will be taking epass photos and issuing passes on December 3 and 4. If you cannot make the dates and times listed above, please email us to make alternate arrangements.

Current epass holders may register for the 2015 program in one of two ways:

1)    Email (rethink@dal.ca) or send via interdepartmental mail the signed 2015 registration form (on the Office of Sustainability website). Passes will be mailed via interdepartmental mail in December.
2)    Sign the form and pick up a new card at one of the following December sign-up sessions in the Dalhousie Student Union Council Chambers (2nd floor) in the Student Union Building (6136 University Avenue):

On the dates listed above, you will also be able to change your pass type (EPass, LinkPass, and MetroXPass).

Opt-out:
Current pass holders who no longer wish to participate in the Epass program will be able to opt-out. To stop epass deductions, pass holders must return their pass to the Office of Sustainability before Friday, January 10th, 2015. Please e-mail the Office of Sustainability if you are returning your pass. Passes can be returned to the Office of Sustainability through interdepartmental mail, by mail, or in person to the following address:

Please note that HALIFAX requires participating employees to remain enrolled in the SmartTrip EPass program for the duration of the calendar year in which they enroll in the program. That means, after December 31, 2014, there will be no additional registration or cancellation until December 31st, 2015.

If you have questions about the epass, program eligibility, rates, or program duration, please contact Stephen Cushing, Office of Sustainability (rethink@dal.ca) or visit the frequently asked questions section of the epass website.
