Refer students to the Career & Leadership Development Centre!

Posted by Career & Leadership Development Centre on November 13, 2014 in General Announcements

How does the Career & Leadership Development Centre (CLDC) help students, staff, and faculty?

Located on the 4th floor of the Student Union Building the CLDC provides many important services including peer advising, leadership development opportunities, career resources, workshops, employer relations, and more.

Students can receive advice on job search strategies, interview preparation, volunteer opportunities, writing resumes, CVs, and cover letters. Our well trained Peer Advisors are available M-F 10-4pm. No appointment necessary!

Staff and Faculty seeking to hire students should advertise their jobs through the myCareer system (http://mycareer.dal.ca). This is a great central location for all on campus employment opportunities. The system can also help to manage your applications and schedule interviews. If you have questions - just ask! We can be reached at (902) 494-3537 or cldc@dal.ca .

Our DALconnects (dal.ca/dalconnects) program promotes volunteer experience by connecting students with opportunities in Halifax and beyond. In addition to their volunteer work, students participate in a variety of workshops and complete a reflective assignment. Those who complete the program receive a certificate acknowledging their accomplishments and a citation on their official Dalhousie Co-Curricular Record (dal.ca/ccr).

We also support faculty in the classroom. Many faculty members contact us to conduct workshops (either 10 minutes or an hour, or more) on various career or employment related topics. We have delivered workshops on networking, resume and CV, interview practice, and more. If you're interested in working with us on a workshop, simply send an email to cldc@dal.ca.

This is just a highlight of the services we offer. Feel free to reach out to us at any time. And don't forget to refer your students to the CLDC.

Sincerely,

Chris Glover
