POSITION:  Student Lab Demonstrators (2) for HSCE 1010: Clinical Skills for Health Sciences
           January 2015 - April 2015
           Lab time is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:00pm – 3:30 pm.
           Total hours: 3 hours per week @ 12 weeks
 
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION(s):  School of Health Sciences/Bethune Building
 
PAY RATE:  In accordance with CUPE collective agreement
 
WORK ASSIGNMENT:  Lab demonstrators will co-facilitate the lab component of this course.  They will be responsible for demonstrating, teaching and assessing students in the following patient care skills fundamental to all professional streams of the BHSc program:  communication methods, vital signs, patient interview, oxygen therapy, body mechanics, patient care support equipment, standard precautions, isolation and sterile techniques, drug administration and venipuncture.  All labs are conducted in a simulated hospital ward environment in the Bethune Building.
 
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:   Demonstrated proficiency in the above listed clinical skills is required (senior RSPT and NUMT students are encouraged to apply).  Successful applicants must be familiar with the BHSc curriculum, enjoy working with students and have good communication skills.  They should hold current certification of a Standard First Aid Course and CPR-C.
