Posted by School of Health Sciences on October 23, 2014 in General Announcements

Sara Allain at QEII/Dalhousie School of Health Sciences is looking for Breast Cancer Patients Survivors or Family members who would be willing to be group facilitators for Students in the Health Profession at Dalhousie University.  Volunteers will be asked to help facilitate a case study provided to students on the care of a patient with Breast Cancer. There will be a small honorarium presented to the volunteers for their time and dedication to the event.

This event is taking place in room 107,  Chapter House - 5751 University Ave, Halifax NS.

Tuesday, October 28th from 3:30pm-5:00pm, the facilitation orientation will take place 2:30pm-3:30pm.

Thursday, October 30th from 3:30pm-5:00pm, the facilitation orientation will take place 2:30pm-3:30pm.

-  Volunteers would have a short facilitator orientation provided by Dalhousie, one hour or less, prior to the event and then facilitate the groups for up to two hours. Volunteers will be supported by faculty who will be present and who will lead the agenda for the day.

- Volunteers will be asked to aid groups of 10 students from varying backgrounds, through a case, providing feedback on the emotional aspect of diagnosis, treatment, post treatment and navigating the health care system.

- The School is still looking for 5 volunteers per session (Tuesday and Thursday) and it would  great if volunteers could commit for both days! However, if volunteers can only commit to one day, the event would be happy to have volunteers for one of the two days.

If anyone is interested they may call Sara Allain at 902-473-2301 or e-mail segardin@dal.ca.
