Applications are invited for the position of Chair of the Department of Earth Sciences in the Faculty of Science, Dalhousie University. We are looking for an ambitious, talented, (com)passionate and creative leader to direct our active group of junior and mid-career geoscientists as we embark on a period of major faculty renewal. The department currently comprises 16 faculty and 9 staff members. We offer strong field-based undergraduate programs (20-25 graduates/year) and M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs. Our current research clusters include tectonics, geochronology and thermochronology, surface and Quaternary processes, marine geophysics, water resources and energy. The department is supported by a strong geoscience community, including other environmental science, oceanography, and geoscience departments in the Province, the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, Nova Scotia Environment and Environment Canada, Geological Survey of Canada-Atlantic, and local industries. We play a strong role in Dalhousie’s Strategic Research Plan, particularly the Priority Research Area #1 regarding Ocean Sciences
