Learn more about the University Cycle Track Pilot Project

Posted by Facilities Management on October 16, 2014 in Facilities Management

This Fall, Dalhousie is planning to install protected bike lanes, called a cycle track, along the north and south sides of University Avenue from Robie Street to LeMarchant Street. This temporary infrastructure will remain in place for a period of 1-2 years for further study, design and data collection in determining how to implement as a permanent feature. All parking meters on University Avenue, from Robie to LeMarchant Street, will be removed and bike lanes created by painting lines and installing bollards for separation. We are currently finalizing the details of an agreement with the municipality and targeting installation during the last week of October.

The pilot project storyboards are presently on display in the main foyer of the Student Union Building. We are hosting an informal Q&A about the pilot project today, Thursday, October 16th, at lunch hour, 12:00-1:00 PM, by the project display in the Student Union Building foyer. Dalhousie’s Assistant Director of Capital Planning, Nathan Rogers, will be on hand at this event to answer questions about the pilot and all are welcome to drop by.
