Posted by Office of Human Rights, Equity & Harassment Prevention on September 17, 2014 in General Announcements

Dalhousie is a community where everyone has a shared responsibility for establishing and maintaining a climate of respect and to help community members navigate support systems available both on and off campus. Members of the Dalhousie community may be in a position where someone has confided in them and is looking for supports/referrals, or may be seeking support on their own behalf.  Listed below are some resources that may be of help.

The Office of Human Rights, Equity & Harassment Prevention (HREHP) has developed a “Where to Go for Help” pamphlet which is posted in washrooms in both Halifax/Truro campus’ and is also available at dal.ca/hrehp. The pamphlet is a comprehensive listing of services, supports and contact numbers both on and off campus.

HREHP has also developed Sexual Assault Response Guidelines for the Dalhousie Community in Halifax and Truro. The guidelines offer information as to how to best support someone who has been sexually assaulted, and provides advice on reporting options as well as information referrals. That information, along with other resources is also available on line at getconsent.dal.ca.

For students, Dalhousie Counselling and Psychological Services also provides free professional counselling for a wide range of concerns. Student Health Services is also available for medical care and counseling. Visit dal.ca/livewell for more information.

Dalhousie also offers an Employee and Family Assistance Program, which is a confidential service for all employees.
