National Payroll Week

Posted by Human Resources on September 16, 2014 in Community Highlights

What if you didn’t get paid on time? It’s not something many of us think about and National Payroll Week is trying to change that.

Here at Dalhousie, there are 11 members of the Payroll & Benefits Team who are responsible for ensuring we all get paid. In 2013, the team paid $374 million in wages and taxable benefits (total payroll) to more than 6,000 university employees.

“National Payroll Week is a great way for payroll professionals to be recognized for all their hard work,” says Jenny White, manager, Payroll & Benefits. “Most employees don't think about the payroll professionals who prepare their pay cheques unless something goes wrong, so it is really nice to get positive recognition for one week a year.”

This week, take time to say hello to a payroll staff member or thank them for all that they do for you and the university. The Payroll & Benefits Office, a part of the Human Resources team, is located in Room 150, Henry Hicks Academic & Administration Building.

Visit the Human Resources section of myDal for more information related to payroll, including forms, timesheets and contact information.
