Healthy Workplaces: Intellectual Wellness

Posted by Human Resources on August 12, 2014 in Human Resources

In anticipation of the call for submissions for the 2014 Healthy Workplace Award at Dalhousie, this post will highlight Intellectual Wellness.

Healthy workplaces expect their members to grow, develop and improve, to strive for the next “new and improved” versions of themselves. Individuals and teams set goals, seek feedback from a range of sources, close gaps in service or performance, and reflect on their experiences so as to learn from them.

Dalhousie offers a wide range of personal and professional development opportunities for faculty and staff. Here are some of our centralized offerings:
- EOD*’s learning calendar provides a “hub” of information about learning opportunities. We are in program planning mode and will update our site regularly, so bookmark http://register-eod.dal.ca and check back often.
- Dal’s tuition assistance program supports employees in both credit and non-credit courses, available at Dal and beyond. Many employees have obtained a Dalhousie degree while working here.
- EOD has resources available to assist managers in supporting performance and development, and has compiled a list of online learning offerings which you can access when you need them - http://eod.dal.ca
- Leaders at Dal have their own customized web space - http://leaders.dal.ca
*EOD is the Employee and Organizational Development unit within the Human Resources department
