WORK ASSIGNMENT: The sessional instructor will teach Economics for Resource and Environmental Management (ENVI 5031) during the 2014-15 fall term. The calendar entry is as follows: “This class is designed as a one term introduction to economics for graduate students who do not have any or limited undergraduate economics training. However, it is also suitable for students with prior economics training who are interested in exploring the environment-economy relationship further. The class begins with a brief but intense guided tour of economics. We then focus on key topics in environmental economics, including among others: the sustainable economy; theory of market failure, public goods and externalities; environmentalist critiques of economic thinking; environmental and natural resource accounting; economic valuation of the environment; time in economic/environmental analysis. The final part of the class explores the theory and practice of a new discipline which bette! r integrates environmental and economic analysis; namely the field of ecological economics. The class is open to students in other parts of the University who are interested in economy and environment.

The course is scheduled for 3 hours per week to be held on Fridays, 1130-1430 hr, September through December 2014. In recent years, this course has attracted ~40 students drawn from various programs.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION: PhD and/or Masters with equivalent experience in related discipline.
