Instructor Posting: University of King's College

Posted by University of King's College on May 15, 2014 in Job Postings

The University of King’s College invites applications for a three-year sessional position in the Early Modern Studies Programme (EMSP) at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing 1 July 2014. In the first year, the successful candidate will administer and teach a new study abroad initiative in the environs of Florence, Italy during the summer and in addition will teach two half-credit electives during the regular academic year in the Early Modern Studies Programme, a programme devoted to the study of European thought and culture from the 16th to early 19th centuries. As this position has as its central focus the pilot project of developing study abroad initiatives at King’s, the duties will evolve as the project develops. Nonetheless, the position will continue to have teaching responsibilities in both the regular academic year and in the study abroad project. The appointment will require evidence of administrative skill and any past experience in study abroad initiatives will be an asset, as will the ability to speak italian. In addition, while EMSP and the study abroad programme are interdisciplinary in nature, expertise in art history in the early modern period, particularly as applicable to the study abroad initiative, will be a significant advantage. Please consult the Calendar entries for the programme on the King’s website (www.ukings.ca) for a list of possible classes.  Experience in interdisciplinary teaching or research would be an asset.

Applications, including a curriculum vitae, three letters of reference, and a statement of teaching interests should be sent by  May 31, 2014, to:
