Posted by Human Resources on March 20, 2014 in Human Resources

1. Members of Dalhousie’s medical plan can access to Medavie Blue Cross’ online resource “My Good Health.” Visit http://medaviebc.mygoodhealth.ca to view tons of health-related resources and take their Health Risk Assessment to receive personalized information and guidance on healthy living. All you need to do is register on the site as a New User with the policy number and identification number from your Dal Blue Cross card. The information you provide is not tracked or shared with Dalhousie.

2. Get a Personal Wellness Profile completed at one of our local Community Health Boards free of charge. You’ll complete a lifestyle survey, have your cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure measured, and receive a personalized report – Free! Appointments are available on Wednesday mornings at the Community Wellness Centre at the Spryfield Shopping Centre (for those with postal codes beginning with B3M, B3N, B3P, B3R, B3S and B3V) or Thursday mornings on Tacoma Drive for those who live in Dartmouth. Visit http://www.cdha.nshealth.ca/community-health-teams to learn more and register online.

3. Access Health Coaching through Dal’s Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP). You’ll connect with a Registered Nurse or Occupational Health Nurse who will provide a) information and advice to help you better understand your health issue; b) support to help you become a better educated user of the public health system; and c) coaching and motivation to help you make healthy lifestyle changes that can prevent more serious health risks.
