Media Highlight: Promoting growth with Dalhousie's new seed catalogue

On Monday, the university’s agricultural campus in Truro is opening a seed library to lend viable seeds for vegetables, herbs and ornamentals to patrons. The library boasts about 85 varieties and will be housed in the wooden drawers of an old card catalogue.

Co-ordinator Jolene Reid said she was inspired to pitch the project to her colleagues at the MacRae Library after reading about the idea on social media. She felt it was a good fit for the campus.

“There’s a real roll-up-the-sleeves mentality on our campus, a lot of applied science, a lot of putting your hands into the soil,” Reid said. “You work with these wonderful people and eventually it becomes infectious.”
