December 13, 2013 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Speaking up when something doesn’t seem right is one of the more challenging aspects of human interaction. You want to say something, but is it up to you and if so, what would you say exactly? We struggle with the language to use, with the risks involved, and with differences in personality, style and approach. This session explores ways to raise concerns constructively, rather than doing so destructively or avoiding them altogether.
Some of the things you might want to speak up about:
Disrespect, conflict, bullying, harassment
Broken promises, hurt feelings, unmet expectations
Discrimination, racism, homophobia
Feeling undervalued or passed over
Come hear from colleagues who struggle, too, but find ways to get their messages out.
