Pain or gain? Understanding the relationship between pain and rewards

Posted by Department of Psychology and Neuroscience on October 29, 2013 in General Announcements

We are looking for students to take part in a study about how pain influences reward experiences. The purpose of this study is to learn more about how pain can have an impact on how rewards, such as money, are experienced. Your participation would involve one 60-minute visit to our research centre at the IWK. You will be asked to perform a computer task in which you can win money. You will be asked to do this twice; once while your hand is in cold water and once while your hand is in room temperature water. Afterwards, you will be asked a few questions regarding the how you felt during the task. We will give you $10.00 and certificate to thank you for your participation, as well as half of the money you won during the computer task. Please contact CPPRWest@iwk.nshealth.ca or 902–470-6906 for more information.
