Each year, the University’s heating system is scheduled to be activated on October 4th. The system may be activated earlier if unseasonably cold temperatures warrant activation before October 4th.   
 
However, this year we are making essential safety modifications to the Sexton campus steam conversion system. This means that we will be unable to activate the heating system on Sexton campus, with the exception of O’Brien Hall, any earlier than October 4th.
 
The modifications that are being made are essential to ensure the reliability of the system during the winter and to ensure the safety of the steam system operators. Our apologies for any inconvenience this necessary work may cause.
