Position:   Part-Time Academic
Department: Music
Pay Rate: per CUPE contract
 
 
Work Assignment: This Part-Time Academic will be required to direct the department’s Horn Ensemble from September 1, 2013 to April 30, 2014.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, auditioning students as necessary for ensemble participation, directing weekly one-hour rehearsals (12 per term),  coordinating weekly 1 hour student-only rehearsals (12 per term), and reporting on student participation at the end of each term as per department deadlines.  This position will work in close collaboration with the instructors of brass instruments and with the professor of composition in the selection and programming of repertoire and performances.  This ensemble will perform in noon-hour recitals and in the year-end composition recital as scheduled by the department.  It may also participate in one 2-hour reading session of the orchestration class.  This position reports to the Chair of the Department.
 
Requirements of Position:  Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Music and successful professional experience both as a teacher of horn and an ensemble coach.  Basic computer skills.

Work Assignment: This Part-Time Academic will be required to coach and to play bassoon in the department’s Woodwinds Quintet ensemble from September 1, 2013 to April 30, 2014.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, auditioning students as necessary for ensemble participation, directing weekly one-hour rehearsals (12 per term), and reporting on student participation at the end of each term as per department deadlines.  This position will work in close collaboration with the instructors of woodwinds instruments and with the professor of composition in the selection and programming of repertoire and performances.  This ensemble will perform in noon-hour recitals and in the year-end New Music Initiatives/Composition graduation recital as scheduled by the department.  It may also participate in one 2-hour reading session of the orchestration class.  This position reports to the Chair of the Department.
