Healthy Workplace Award nomination deadline September 30th

Posted by Human Resources on September 3, 2013 in Human Resources

Dalhousie’s annual Healthy Workplace Award recognizes departments and units that demonstrate opportunities of health and wellness for their employees. There are many ways to support employee health, engagement, and well-being, and Dalhousie departments have an amazing array of initiatives underway from which we can all learn. Using a framework of the six dimensions of wellness, departments and units showcase their activities and the review and selection process is undertaken by Dal’s Healthy Workplace Collaborative. All nominated areas are recognized at an event at the end of October, as part of Healthy Workplace Month.

Previous winners:
2012 – Information Technology Services (ITS)
2011 – Management Career Services

A key component of the winning submission from ITS was their commitment to physical activity. As Dwight Fischer, Dal’s Chief Information Officer explains, “In our work we spend too much time sitting, so winning the award for a healthy workplace endorses the notion that we validate and encourage healthy lifestyles and activities. Carving out time to play, to move around and get the blood moving, makes us all better at our work and improves our attitudes and productivity.”
