Assistant Professor Position, Limited Term Appointment

 
The School of Nursing, Dalhousie University, is seeking an outstanding educator for one, full-time, three year, limited term position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Appointment will be effective January 1, 2014. The position is subject to final budgetary approval.
 
Situated in the Faculty of Health Professions, the School of Nursing offers programs leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing; a Master of Nursing that includes a nurse practitioner stream; and a PhD (Nursing).  The School is also an active participant in interprofessional education activities.
 
At the time of appointment, the successful candidate will have completed a minimum of a Master of Nursing (PhD preferred). Evidence of progressive experience with medium and high fidelity simulation learning in a university professional program is required.  Recent teaching experience, including two years clinical practice teaching is desirable and a minimum of two years clinical experience. The ability to work effectively with faculty, students and clinical agency personnel from a variety of health professions is essential.
 
Primary responsibilities of the successful Assistant Professor in the Clinical Learning & Simulation Centre (CLSC) candidate will include leading the integration of simulation learning within the undergraduate and graduate curricula of Nursing and other health professions as required.  The successful candidate will assume a partial teaching load in addition to providing leadership to CLSC instructors and staff. The successful candidate, through the CLSC resources, will support skills mastery; testing of knowledge and skills; critical thinking and clinical judgment; and application to clinical practice through simulation learning, using a wide range of low to high fidelity activities and equipment in collaboration with faculty.
 
A background in some combination of leadership, diversity in healthcare, interprofessional education/collaboration, information technology, including distance and context-based learning are considered requirements. Eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia is a requirement.

Limited Term Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor
 
Dalhousie University School of Nursing is seeking an outstanding educator, researcher, and practitioner for one full-time, two-year, limited term position at the rank of Assistant Professor.  Appointment will be effective January 1, 2014.   The position is subject to final budgetary approval.
 
Situated in the faculty of Health Professions, the School of Nursing offers programs leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with multiple streams; a Master of Nursing in variety of specialties including nurse practitioner; and a PhD (Nursing) focusing on the impact of nursing practices on health outcomes for individuals, families, communities and/or populations.
 
At the time of appointment, the successful candidate will have completed a research-based doctoral degree in a health-related discipline, have a record of external funding and research publications, and have demonstrated a commitment to developing excellence in their teaching, research and practice.  The candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a rigorous externally funded research program.  Self-directedness, and the ability to work collaboratively, is essential.
 
The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will include teaching and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students, maintaining a vibrant program of research and publication, and contributing to academic/collegial life of the School and University and to the broader community.  Of particular interest are candidates with expertise in mental health nursing, rural nursing, gerontological nursing, or adult acute care nursing together with quantitative research methods and/or distributive teaching/learning methods.  As well, a background in some combination of leadership, ethics, genetics, diversity in healthcare, interprofessional education/collaboration, information technology, including distance and context-based learning, and/or clinical simulation would be assets. Eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia is a requirement.
