WORK ASSIGNMENT: Working closely with the student stage management team and with Theatre Department faculty and staff during rehearsals and the run of the four DalTheatre productions (supervising, checking, and maintaining proper professional CAEA standards and practices, as well as marking student work). The position reports to the Chair of the Department.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: BA in Theatre, Drama or equivalent, with professional accreditation in the area of expertise.

POSITION: Part-Time Academic - THEA 1800Y
Introduction to Acting and Performance
Winter Term (January 2013 - April 2013)
DEPARTMENT: Theatre
PAY RATE: As per CUPE Collective Agreement
WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic will take responsibility for the teaching and grading of one section of THEA 1800X/Y - Introduction to Acting and Performance, including the preparation of assignments and the evaluation of students. This Part-Time Academic must be willing to work in tandem with Full-Time Faculty, using a syllabus common across multiple sections of the course, and must also supervise the work of one Marker. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:BA, BFA, or equivalent in Theatre (Acting), plus professional acting experience. Previous experience in teaching acting at a university level is essential, as is evidence of strong teaching effectiveness. Familiarity with the Dalhousie University Acting Program is considered an asset.

POSITION:Part-Time Academic - Movement for Actors THEA 4840.06 X/Y

Hourly Appointment (36 hours)

WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic will teach a module on movement for actors as a part of 4840X/Y.06 (Advanced Performance Techniques), as well as prepare and grade all assignments in this module. This course is an integral part of the Acting Program and comes at the end of a three-year cycle.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: BA or BFA, plus specialization in teaching creative and period movement to actors in a classical actor training program. Evidence of strong teaching effectiveness is essential, as is professional performance experience. Familiarity with the Dalhousie University Acting Programme is considered an asset.

The Playwright in the Theatre

WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic will take responsibility for the teaching and grading of one section of The Playwright in the Theatre (Theatre 3600), including the preparation of assignments and the evaluation of students’ work. The position may include supervision of rehearsals and performances of the playwriting students’ work, which may require some evening work in the Winter term. This position reports to the Chair of the department.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Qualifications expected include M.A., M.F.A., or equivalent in Theatre, Drama or related discipline, and/or substantial professional experience as a playwright. Previous experience of teaching playwriting at a university is an asset, as is evidence of strong teaching effectiveness.
