JUNIOR DON 2013-14
 
The University of King’s College invites applications for Junior Dons for the 2013-14 academic year.
 
The Junior Don exercises general disciplinary duties within the precincts of the College, especially on the first floor of Alexandra Hall or Angels’ Roost. He or she is expected to assist students through programming initiatives, individual support and referrals, and initial crisis response. The Junior Don works closely with a team of nine Residence Dons who together form the core of the residence staff team. They work together on a daily basis to coordinate their efforts as a team and as individuals. Junior Dons are also required to attend bi-weekly staff meetings.
 
Applicants should be senior undergraduate students at King’s finishing their third year of study or higher. Current King’s graduands are also encouraged to apply.
 
Remuneration is a single residence room and a full meal plan.
 
The Junior Don is expected to be fully moved in to accommodations no later than August 21, 2013 and must be available and on campus during specific dates throughout the year.  These include:
·         August 22 to 30, 2013: Mandatory residence staff training.
·         August 31 to September 7, 2013: Orientation week for new students.
·         December 17, 2013: Residence closes for the holiday break. Junior dons may leave.
·         January 5, 2014: Junior Dons must return to campus for the Winter term.
·         April 28, 2014: Residence closes. Junior dons may leave residence. The appointment officially concludes.
