PART-TIME ACADEMIC POSTING

POSITION: Part-Time Academic
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Spanish & Latin American Studies
PAY RATE: In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT: To teach PORT 1010.03 – Accelerated Basic Portuguese in the Fall term (T & R, 18:05-19:25 pm) – September - December, 2013. The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test preparation and evaluation. The position reports to the Chair of the department.

REQUIREMENTS OF
POSITION: Minimum B.A. in Portuguese, plus at least five years language teaching experience required. Native or near-native fluency Portuguese and English required. Formal training in second-language acquisition and knowledge of Spanish desirable.

The Part-Time Academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test preparation, and evaluation. The position reports to the Chair of the department.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE
POSITION: Master’s degree in an appropriate field, plus previous university teaching experience. Lived intercultural experience and evidence of intercultural sensitivity, familiarity with current research in intercultural communication preferred.
