SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK – Dalhousie University                                         
Faculty Position Available

Applications are invited for a one-year (100% FTE) limited term faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, commencing July 1, 2013.
 
The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the BSW and/or MSW programs, both on site, in Halifax and online by distance delivery to students across Canada and engage in relevant research activities. The incumbent in this position will be asked to teach courses in advanced social work practice and social work research or other core courses as relevant.  Relevant committee and administrative work is also required. The School of Social Work also works to develop collaborative partnerships with the professional community in Nova Scotia, especially in supporting curriculum development and practice research. The incumbent will assist in facilitating these partnerships.
 
Both the BSW and MSW programs are guided by the School’s mission to create a socially just society.  They are concerned with issues of poverty, inequality, and social and political marginality, and seek to develop practitioners and scholars who are critical thinkers and are effective in advancing progressive change, whether through individual or community practice, or through policy and political engagement.
 
Applicants must have a BSW or MSW, and a PhD (or near completion) in Social Work or a related discipline, as well as demonstrated achievement in research and scholarly work. Candidates should also submit evidence of effectiveness in teaching, social work practice or social policy appropriate to their experience.

Applications should include a statement of teaching and scholarly interests, evidence of effectiveness in teaching social work practice or policy, and curriculum vitae.
