INFO 6070 – Reading and Reading Practices

The part-time academic will teach the elective course Reading and Reading Practices (INFO 6070) in the MLIS program during the 2014 Winter term. The course is scheduled for one 3 hour period per week, January – April 2014.

Requirements of the Position:

MLIS degree, professional employment experience , and prior teaching experience in cataloguing.

The Instructor reports to the Director of the School. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Responsibility for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including lectures, active learning class sessions, assignment preparation and evaluation; availability for two hours per week for consultation with students. A syllabus for the course is available.

The part-time academic will teach the elective course Indexing and Abstracting (INFO 6350) in the MLIS program during the 2013 Winter term. This course will taught in online mode, using BbLearn. The course is scheduled for one 3 hour period per week, January – April, 2014.

Requirements of the Position:

MLIS or related degree and experience with indexing and abstracting. Prior teaching experience is also required.

The Instructor reports to the Director of the School. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Responsibility for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including lectures, active learning class sessions, assignment preparation and evaluation; availability for two hours per week for consultation with students. A syllabus for the course is available. While this course is usually taught onsite, distance delivery is also an option, in which case the instructor must have successful prior teaching experience with online course delivery.

The Sessional Instructor will teach the elective course Health Sciences Literature and Information Sources (INFO 6750) in the MLIS program during the 2014 Winter term. The course is scheduled for one 3 hour period per week, January – April, 2014.

Requirements of the Position:

MLIS degree and employment experience as an information professional. Prior teaching experience is required. Research experience in Health Information or a cognate area will be helpful.

The Sessional Instructor will teach the elective Archives course (INFO 6800) in the MLIS program during the 2014 Winter term. The course is scheduled for one 3 hour period per week, January – April, 2014.

Requirements of the Position:

Graduate in LIS, Archives or cognate discipline and significant employment experience in an archival setting. Prior teaching experience will be an asset and some research experience in Archival Studies or a cognate area will be helpful.
