The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Dalhousie University invites applications for a Senior Instructor position in the CPA Accredited Clinical Psychology Program at Dalhousie University. This position is full time and is available starting July 1, 2013. Job candidates should have a PhD in Psychology (CPA or APA accredited program), completed a CPA or APA accredited internship. Applicant should be eligible for registration as a clinical psychologist in the province of Nova Scotia; and have experience in psychology undergraduate and graduate teaching, clinical training, and program administration. Knowledge of the relevant local/provincial organizations would be an asset.

The Instructor will teach five to six half credits per year at the undergraduate and graduate level, with the actual assignment dependent on the level of research activity and supervision of undergraduate and graduate student research projects. In addition to teaching, he/she will serve as Field Placement Coordinator for the Clinical Psychology Program. In the role of Field Placement Coordinator, he/she will guide the clinical training of our PhD students by identifying appropriate practicum placements for students and ensuring adequate training opportunities. Specific responsibilities include working with students to determine overall clinical training goals and a related sequence of training, assisting students with placement selection and application, monitoring each student’s training progress, serving as the liaison between the program and practicum and internship sites, developing additional training opportunities, and maintaining student placement records.

The Instructor is also expected to participate in administrative work in the Department and will serve on appropriate Departmental, Faculty and University Committees. Although research is not a required component of this position, in keeping with the nature of the Department, we will support the applicant in developing or continuing their research program.
