Evaluating audio, text and audio-text as output modalities for viewing maintenance manuals on mobile devices in an industrial setting (On-demand learning)

We are recruiting participants to take part in a research study evaluating audio, text and audio-text as output modalities for viewing training manuals on mobile devices in on-demand learning scenario. We are looking for Dalhousie University students, faculty or staff members. Some previous experience with mobile devices (like smart phones/tablets) is required. Both, expert and novice people in performing computer hardware assembly tasks or other mechanical (installation of parts, etc.) jobs are welcome. We are looking for people, who are not colour blind, have good hearing abilities and have good English comprehension skills.

The study will be conducted in The Mona Campbell Building (4th Floor) at Dalhousie University and will take about 80-90 minutes to complete. You will first meet with a researcher to go over an orientation session to get the study details and give consent to do the study. You will then complete a set of computer hardware assembly tasks with guidance through user manuals on a mobile device. You will be answering questions about your experience after the tasks and at the end of the session. Compensation is a $15 for participation in the study.
