POSITION:        Part-Time Academic

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION:  International Development Studies

PAY RATE:  As per CUPE Collective Agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT:  INTD 3102.03 Special Topics:  Indigenous Peoples and Development in Canada. The part-time academic is responsible for all aspects of teaching, grading and administration of the class and in addition is to be available for two hours per week outside of class times for student consultation. The classes are offered June 3rd to June 23rd Monday through Thursday, 13:05 to 15:55. The part-time academic reports to the Chair of the department.
 
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Ph.D. in International Development Studies or closely related field preferably.  Research and teaching experience in the relationship with Indigenous struggles for treaty rights and land claims in Canada, as well as recent legislation with a particular focus on Mi’kma’ki. Previous teaching experience preferred.

WORK ASSIGNMENT:  INTD 4002.03 Special Topics: Children and War /held in conjunction with INTD 5004.03 Special Topics - Children and War.  The part time academic is responsible for all aspects of teaching, grading and administration of the class and in addition is to be available for two hours per week outside of class times for student consultation. The course will be taught Monday through Friday, four hours per day for the period beginning August 12th to 23rd.  The part time academic reports to the Chair of the department.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Ph.D. or M.A. in International Development Studies or closely related field.  Experience and expertise in the impact of war on children, the situation of child soldiers and the role of international organizations such as the United Nations and the International Criminal Court in addressing conflict and post-conflict situations for children and their families.   Previous teaching experience preferred.

WORK ASSIGNMENT:   ASSIGNMENT:  INTD 3001.03 – Contemporary Debates Development Theory - Topic: Development as Happiness: From Growth to Well-Being.  The part time academic is responsible for all aspects of teaching, grading and administration of the class and in addition is to be available for two hours per week outside of class times for student consultation.  This class will be offered in the period of May 6th to May 29th.  There will be four lectures per week.  They will be scheduled from Monday through Thursday from 5:35 p.m. to 8:25 p.m.  The part time academic reports to the Chair of the department.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Ph.D. or M.A. in International Development Studies or closely related field.  Experience and expertise in interdisciplinary approaches to Development Studies.   Previous teaching experience preferred.
