David Adams Richards ‑ Award‑winning author to visit campus

Award-winning author David Adams Richards will be doing a public reading at 7:30 p.m. on Thurs., Nov. 29 in the Killam Memorial Library. The reading will take place in the Archives & Special Collections Reading Room on the fifth floor of the library.

In October, David Adams Richards won the 2012 Thomas Head Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award for his most recent book, Incidents in the Life of Markus Paul. His writing has also earned him a number of prestigious awards, including a Governor General's Award for Fiction, a Giller Prize and two Gemini Awards. Richards also won a Governor General's Award for Non-fiction, making him one of only three people to have won a Governor General's awards in the fiction and non-fiction categories.

David Adams Richards has written novels, short stories, memoirs, essays, poetry and plays. His novels are primarily set in the Miramichi River Valley, and explore universal themes such as family conflict, morality, economic class and community. He is a Member of the Order of Canada for his “enormous contribution to Canada's literary scene as an author and as a voice for New Brunswick and the Maritimes.”
