1 POSITION:  Part-time Academic for GERM 1010 (German for Beginners), Winter Term 2012-13
 
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION:  German Dept., Marion McCain Arts and Social Sciences Bldg., Room 3054, 6135 University Avenue, Halifax, NS B3H 4R2
 
PAY RATE:  In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement
 
WORK ASSIGNMENT:  The German Department is seeking to make a part-time appointment in German for the Winter Term 2012/13. The successful candidate will teach "German for Beginners" (instruction in elementary German grammar, writing, reading and speaking skills). This includes preparing tests, marking and oral instruction and also setting the weekly oral tutorial activities. Three class hours per week.
 
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:  Minimum requirement: M.A. or equivalent. Native or near-native fluency in German and English. Experienced language teacher preferred.

PAY RATE:  In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement
 
WORK ASSIGNMENT:  The German Department is seeking to make a part-time appointment in German for the Winter Term 2012/13. The successful candidate will teach a writing requirement class on German Folk and Fairy Tales. The seminar will be conducted in English. Three class hours per week.
 
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:  Preference will be given to a candidate with a PhD or a PhD in hand and teaching experience at university level.

WORK ASSIGNMENT:  Instruction in intermediate-level German grammar as well as writing and reading skills. Three class hours per week (MWF). Also set the weekly oral tutorial activities.

PAY RATE:  In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement
 
WORK ASSIGNMENT: The part-time academic will be required to cover oral practice, translation techniques, detailed comprehension of texts and the finer points of grammar in English and German. The part-time Academic is also responsible for setting tests and for final grading. Three class hours per week (T R).
 
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:  Minimum requirement: M.A. or equivalent. Native or near-native fluency in German and English. Experience with university-level language teaching.
