We invite you to take part in a study conducted by researchers at Dalhousie University to obtain feedback on on-line mortgage calculators. Our findings will help develop guidelines for engaging and usable visualizations intended for casual users in financial and other domains. Your participation will consist of a single session in which you will be asked to meet with researchers and 3–5 other participants in a focus group to discuss your opinions after taking part in an exploratory activity where you will be asked to use an online mortgage calculator to perform some tasks.

We are looking for recent home buyers, both first-time buyers and those who have bought more than one home, and also people who have been through the mortgage renewal process. Participants must have used mortgage calculators before or have been through the process of choosing a mortgage plan in past. Participants may bring their own laptops (Windows/Linux/ Mac) for the session to perform the exploratory activity; if you do not have a laptop, we may be able to provide one for you.

The study will be conducted in a quiet study room/ lab on the Dalhousie University campus. The entire session is expected to take about 60 minutes, and you will be compensated with $15 for your participation. If you are interested in participating, please contact Anmol Zakhmi at an286480@dal.ca
