Child Volunteers Needed for Research

The IWK Health Centre and Dalhousie University are conducting a study examining children’s executive functioning (working memory, planning/organizational abilities, inhibition)
 
Your child may take part in this study if he/she:  
o Is between the ages of 8 and 12
o Has normal or corrected to normal eyesight
o Speaks English as a primary language
 
Your child may NOT take part in this study if he/she:
o Has a primary mental health disorder
o Has a history of severe head injury
o Has a chronic medical condition
 
This study will involve one visit to a research laboratory at Dalhousie University where:
 
· You and your child will have a meeting with the researcher to inform you about the study and to answer questions
· Your child will complete some hands-on, and paper and pencil activities with a research assistant
· Your child will complete some activities that will require you to define words, read, and do some math
· Your child will get to choose a small prize, and receive a certificate of completion for participating!
 
You will:
· Fill out questionnaires
· Receive a Tim Horton’s gift card as a thank you for participating
 
Your child’s teacher will:
· Fill out questionnaires to help us learn more about you at school
