GIS Centre's Lunchless Learn Returns

Posted by GIS Centre on September 13, 2012 in General Announcements

The GIS Centre will be holding a our first instalment in the 'Lunch-less Learn' series...

First Encounters of the GIS Kind: An Introduction to the Basics if Geographic Information Systems
This session is an introduction meant for people with little or no experience in GIS. The software we will be using for this session is ArcGIS. This is a building block for our future Lunch-less Learn Series.

Friday, September 20th from 11:30 – 1:00pm
Location: Room G70, Killam  Library

What is a 'Lunch-less Learn', you may ask? It's a hands-on tutorial, held around lunchtime, open to all - without the food!

A GIS, or Geographic Information System, is "a computer system for capturing, storing, checking, integrating, manipulating, analyzing and displaying data relating to positions on earth's surface".  In other words, it's an easy and fun way to look at the world differently.

Due to a high level of interest, we ask that you contact the GIS Centre to reserve a space.
For more information, contact Jennifer Strang at gis@dal.ca

*PLEASE NOTE: *
This session will be repeated 2 additional times, once at Sexton Campus Sept. 26 at 12:00 and again at the Killam Oct. 3 at 12:00.
This is the first topic in a series. Visit the Libraries blog for more info.
No GIS Experience is expected or required!
